Mission Anchor

Our
Commitment

Catholic Charities Yolo–Solano (CCYS) is deeply embedded in the communities we serve, working in close partnership with individuals and families as they pursue stability, safety, and opportunity. Our work is grounded in the belief that lasting change happens when support is responsive, accessible, and built on trust.

We focus on practical, community-based solutions that help people navigate challenges, strengthen their capacity, and achieve meaningful outcomes. By meeting people where they are, both geographically and relationally, we are able to respond early, reduce barriers, and support long-term stability for families and neighborhoods.

Through strong partnerships and a commitment to accountability and impact, CCYS leverages resources to create measurable, community-wide benefits. Guided by compassion and respect, we collaborate with funders and local partners to strengthen systems of support and help ensure that all members of our community have the opportunity to thrive.

Our History

Sr. Frederica Horvath emigrated to the United States from Hungary and in 1926 founded the Sisters of Social Service in Los Angeles. The mission of the religious community was to share in the social mission of the Church by addressing the needs and challenges of those struggling individuals and families living in poverty. They have always had a special emphasis on women and children living on the margins.
